Black Eden Weekend
A Modern-Day Woodstock for Black Joy, Wellness & Liberation
Black Eden Weekend is a soulful, open-air celebration that revives the spirit of Idlewild, Michigan—a once-thriving haven known as “Black Eden.” This historic town, once a refuge for Black leisure, now becomes the backdrop for a bold reawakening rooted in Black freedom, wellness, and culture. Over three days during Juneteenth weekend, the forest comes alive with music, movement, laughter, and radiant celebration.
Why Juneteenth Matters
Juneteenth commemorates the delayed but powerful arrival of freedom for enslaved Black Americans. It’s a time to honor our ancestors, affirm our resilience, and step boldly into a future shaped by liberation and joy. Black Eden Weekend channels this energy into an immersive outdoor experience that celebrates our stories, our wellness, and our cultural power.
Our Vision
Inspired by the spirit of Woodstock and the energy of Coachella—with a distinctly Black, liberatory soul—Black Eden Weekend transforms Idlewild into a vibrant cultural sanctuary. Think tents under the trees, bonfires beside the lake, sunrise yoga, trail rides at golden hour, and nights filled with laughter, poetry, and dancing. It’s a celebration of Black community, creativity, and connection—all rooted in nature.
